BIO

ARWN (Becky White – She/Her) is a multi-hyphenate artist, DJ, vocalist, and producer. Raised between New York City and Berkeley, California, she is the daughter of a writer father and an activist, multimedia producer mother, and the great granddaughter of immigrants from Sweden and Eastern Europe. She currently resides in Sonoma County, on the unceded land of the Coastal Miwok.

Her musical journey began at age five with the violin. After years of classical training, she saved up to buy her first electric guitar at 13. With a lifelong love of language, Becky has been writing radical poetry since she first held a pen—eventually weaving her words into music to create songs with a timeless, resonant quality.

Becky White has released four original albums and has been performing since childhood. A dedicated student of global musical traditions, she earned a Master’s from Berklee College of Music in 2015. She also studied at the Ali Akbar Khan College of Music (2006–2009), and with gamelan masters in the jungles of Bali, Indonesia. Her parallel studies in conservation biology and wildlife ecology deeply inform her work, inspiring a strong commitment to social and environmental justice.

In 2023, she completed a 45-minute visual album,
BECOMING | REMEMBERING,
which premiered as a public art installation in Petaluma, CA, supported by a grant from Creative Sonoma.

More recently, she launched her solo electronic dance project ARWN, stepping into the DJ world to showcase her original productions alongside global beats, organic and melodic house, indie dance, and melodic techno. She is currently releasing music under the moniker ARWN.

Her creative process is expansive, experimenting with field recordings, found and created instruments, vintage guitars, pianos, synths, computers, MIDI, sitar, Indian classical music, and her own voice.

Becky also records and produces for her band xoFIREKEEPER, under her label
LOVE HOLDS THE UNIVERSE TOGETHER
and production company
M A K E A R T N O W.

You can find ARWN on a dance floor, at a magical venue, under stars or sunset.
